ar71xx & kernel 2.6.38.7 -> bridge does not come up

Reported by: risa2000 Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: bridge brctl Cc:

Description

OpenWRT from trunk (r27114) for ar71xx with kernel 2.6.38.7 breaks bridging.

The bridge is not initialized during the boot -> br-lan interface is not created.

When I try restart network after the boot manually I see this message:

brctl: bridge br-lan: Package not installed
brctl: SIOCDEVPRIVATE: No such device
brctl: bridge br-lan: No such device
brctl: SIOCDEVPRIVATE: No such device
ifconfig: SIOCSIFHWADDR: No such device
device eth0 entered promiscuous mode
device eth0 left promiscuous mode
device eth0 entered promiscuous mode
device eth0 left promiscuous mode
device eth0 entered promiscuous mode

However which Package might not be installed is not clear. I checked that "bridge" package is installed. "brctl" command is also available.

The log from boot follows:

U-Boot 1.1.4 (Nov 17 2009 - 11:56:26)

risa2000: don't use this Kernel then, default is still 2.6.37.6 - if you use anything newer you're on your own for now - in particular you have to solve the ipv6 - bridge dependency, see http://patchwork.openwrt.org/patch/992/
subelj: what has this to do with anything in this ticket?

comment:3 in reply to: ↑ 2 Changed 7 years ago by anonymous

Replying to jow:
Actually I am using now kernel 2.6.37.6. I tried 2.6.38.7 with the risk it might not work and I did not complain. I just reported it with hope, someone may notice that and explain it. You did, thanks for that.

I just do not agree on status change. This is still bug, which should at some time be fixed, until then, it should stay open.
