I am having the same problem with g301nh.

+1 on a g300nh.

Revision: 27096

Flashes fine over a 10.03.1-rc4 build using sysupgrade, or via tftp, but router will not boot. red diag light stays on constantly.

Unfortunately I do not have a serial cable, and totally failed to find my JTAG cable in the (chaotic) cellar.

Are you guys sure that it is indeed nonfunctional?
There are two recent changes, r27042 and r27043 which now use the red diag light to indicate OpenWrt boot. As for the non reachable lan, some 300 units need the 301 image due to a different hardware revision. You can also check with tcpdump / wireshark whether it requests dhcp on its wan port, if that is the case the firmware booted but the ethernet is defunct.

From mine, running 10.03.1-rc5-testing:

# dmesg|grep rtl
rtl8366s rtl8366s: using GPIO pins 19 (SDA) and 20 (SCK)
rtl8366s rtl8366s: RTL8366 ver. 1 chip found

So it's a g300nh and I used the correct image.

I left mine in that state for a whole day yesterday - red diag still today in the morning - so it doesn't boot for sure.

I have a wzr-hp-g300nh B0 B0 revision. Until now I had no issue flashing the 300 images. After flashing the router does not pass the diag leg phase.

03-Jun-2011 13:25 squashfs build doesn't work as well.
If I remember correctly the last functional build was released on 28 May.

Hi !
I just built r27041 (out of couriosity and just for fun), which ist from 06/01/11.
This build works fine on a wzr-hp-g300nh / B0B0, so if there is a problem it must be a later build.
But I wonder, if this error just affects the Buffalos, or other routers as well, because these days I bricked my TP-Link tl-wr1043nd with the same symptoms (power led on, nothing else, not even failsave mode possible).

I've just flashed r27116 onto a g300nh. The device doesn't come up. Red diag light on constantly.

I also tried capturing packates from the WAN port as suggested by jaw, but: silence.

Reopening.

Definitely fixed. Make sure to run "make target/linux/clean" otherwise the updated source is not compiled.

Hmm, thanks. I tried that, but it didn't help.

So I tried a snapshot build from tonight (6th june) - and that one works.

Given I did a fresh checkout a few days ago and just selected ar71xx, generic, g30xnh, and some extra packages - what could be wrong with the config?

Hi,
i'm having 2 buffalo g300nh routers. the first one was bought in India having the version number as b0 c0, the second one was bought in US having the version as A2 A0.

i have built the firmware from source (SVN Version 27291- built from scratch) with additional packages. i was able to upgrade the firmware using tftp on the router which was bought in India. however, the router which was bought in the US is not working after updating with g300nh firmware. the ethernet is defunct as i dont see any dhcp packet on lan/wan and the red light stays on.

Based on jow's input instead of g300nh firmware i used g301nh firmware on the US router. the ethernet started to work.

The only issue with g301 firmware is although the ethernet is working i dont see the green router icon flashing which is actually flashing in the router that was bought in India running g300 firmware.

Also, the red diag light is always On on the g301 firmware. i tried to change the status on the LED configuration, still no use.

Could you please let me know why the US router requires g301 firmware as opposed to g300 firmware. what is causing this issue.

Thanks,
Aswin
