[packages] dnsmasq: a patch for static IPv4 and IPv6 resolving

Reported by: mzguanglin@… Owned by: developers
Priority: highest Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: dnsmasq ipv6 static resoving Cc:

This is one of the tickets which must be posted in integrating napt66( into OpenWrt. I've been working for some days and nearly reached the goal.

Earlier, the author(usa911 at, the same as mzweilin at of napt66 provided an important patch for dnsmasq about static IPv4 and IPv6 resoving which had been integrated into dnsmasq-2.56test18. I think upgrading dnsmasq version in OpenWrt base files would be a risk work, so I upload the patch here.

Umm... why would one want to use NAT on IPv6? The IETF even has a RFC on why this is probably a bad idea:

I think you'd love to if you realize that every global unicast IPv6 address is priced respectively in some parts of the world. Economic factor determines the process which a NAPT lover can make.
