#9409 closed defect (invalid)

Samba3 does not allow to set the shares to follow symlinks

Reported by: dawid@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: samba symlink symlinks symbolic links link Cc:

Description

I think I tried everything, and I can't get samba3 to show the clients folders and files symlinked in a shared folder. None of the typical options that work for others work, e.g

[global]
follow symlinks = yes
wide links = yes
unix extensions = no

I recompiled samba to enable logging but still the log file doesn't even mention anything related to symlinking or the symlinked files and folders I expected to be shown to client.

OK, you can mark this report as invalid. I thought I checked it before but turns out I didn't add the o+rx access rights on the symlinked directory. That made the symlinks work.
Sorry for wasting your time, hopefully someone will find this useful, though.
