#9402 closed defect (invalid)

enabling ath9k ends in reboot loop

Reported by: jeyjay Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: ath9k reboot loop Cc:

enabling the wireless interface ends up in a reboot loop.

Hardware is a Asus WL500gP with ath9k miniPCI card (TP-Link).

Everything works very well. But when I enable the wireless interface all LAN+WAN LEDs are flashing and the router reboots. During the next reboot, the WLAN LED goes on but a few seconds later, again all LAN+WAN LEDs are flashing and the router reboots again... and so on

I tested r26868 and r26878 with same results.

I used to install the following packages which worked very well for months:
PACKAGES:=wpad -wpad-mini kmod-ath9k kmod-usb-core kmod-usb-uhci kmod-usb2 kmod-usb-storage kmod-fs-ext4 zoneinfo-core zoneinfo-europe luci luci-app-ddns luci-app-ntpc luci-app-qos luci-app-upnp e2fsprogs tune2fs fdisk fstab swap-utils usbutils iperf tcpdump wget memtester hdparm openssh-sftp-server

Double check the psu of your WL-500GP.

you're right, the capacitor has some puffy cheeks. Bought a new psu and router is working fine.

Thank you. Please close this ticket.
