ram on dir-320 with backfire

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: hauke
Priority: highest Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: kernel Version: Backfire 10.03.1 RC4
Keywords: ram, dir-320, memory Cc:

Description

Hello, I have a dir-320. I installed openwrt from backfire branch r26820. The wiki says this device has 32 MB of ram. But from:

root@AP:~# dmesg | grep -i memory
 memory: 01700000 @ 00000000 (usable)
Memory: 20464k/23552k available (2229k kernel code, 3088k reserved, 343k data, 136k init, 0k highmem)
Freeing unused kernel memory: 136k freed

and:

root@AP:~# cat /proc/meminfo
MemTotal:          20600 kB
MemFree:            2600 kB
Buffers:            1460 kB

VmallocTotal:    1048372 kB
VmallocUsed:         720 kB
VmallocChunk:    1035736 kB

it seems it has less memory: 0x1700000 bytes = 24117248 bytes = 23552 Kbytes = 23 Mbytes

other infos from nvram:

root@AP:~# nvram show | grep -i ram
sdram_ncdl=0xc0007
sdram_config=0x0062
sdram_init=0x000b
sdram_refresh=0

I also tried erasing nvram with:

mtd -r erase nvram

but always:

root@AP:~# dmesg | grep -i memory
 memory: 01700000 @ 00000000 (usable)
Memory: 20464k/23552k available (2229k kernel code, 3088k reserved, 343k data, 136k init, 0k highmem)
Freeing unused kernel memory: 136k freed

Does it also show less memory then expected after a cold boot or just after rebooting it?

comment:3 Changed 7 years ago by anonymous

no, memory detected is always 23MB after cold boot and soft reboot

You're using trunk, not backfire rc5...

comment:6 Changed 7 years ago by anonymous

Yes and the problem, as you see, is fixed.

comment:7 Changed 7 years ago by anonymous

Yes, I tried trunk and bug is fixed, but the bug should be also fixed in backfire which is supposed to be the stable version...

Same problem here: DIR-320, Backfire (10.03.2, r32561)

Freeing unused kernel memory: 84k freed

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from accepted to closed

This is fixed in trunk and also in the attitude adjustment beta 2, see r33619 r33596.

We will not backport this to backfire.
