Memleak with QoS

Reported by: pyther@… Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone: Backfire 10.03.1
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Running Backfire SVN 26330 I get a memleak when QoS is enabled.

Hardware: Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH (ar71xx)

At router startup htop reports about 11MB usage. A few hours later htop reports 21MB of RAM usage.

The Slab memory usage appears to continuously increase and never seems to decrease. I have attached the output of "date; free; cat /proc/meminfo" at router startup, few minutes after QoS is enabled and lastly a couple hours after QoS is enabled.

nbd had me try the following

  1. Disable QoS <== solved the problem
  2. Comment 'option 'download' '4970' in qos.conf
  3. Comment 'option 'download' '4970' in qos.conf and rmmod imq

The last two things did not help. I still had the memleak. Each time I made a change I rebooted the router (to clear the memory).

Disabling QoS appears to eliminate the memory leak.

The issues is accelerated when running a torrent client (deluged) with DHT enabled. Within 18-24 hours all the RAM would be used resulting in my router crashing. Disabling DHT helps greatly, but there is a slow and gradual leak. The same applies when I disable the torrent client all together.
Note: Torrent Client is on a separate box on the network

This did not exist in 10.03.1-rc4

I have also attached the config file I used to build the image.

Did you use L7 filter? Refer to #8590 for what I'm asking.

Yes I have a L7 filter for Bittorrent Traffic.
