LCD4linux - no driver

Reported by: jan.vongrej@… Owned by: nico
Priority: normal Milestone: Backfire 10.03.1
Component: packages Version: Backfire 10.03
Keywords: lcd4linux, driver Cc:

Description

No driver is built in Official lcd4linux package.

When i setup any driver in lcd4linux.conf i get similar error

Mar 21 12:54:27 xxx user.err LCD4Linux[1260]: drv_init(MatrixOrbital) failed: no such driver

Mar 21 12:54:27 xxx user.err LCD4Linux[1260]: Error initializing driver MatrixOrbital: Exit!

I would suggest to built the package with all drivers or not to build lcd4linux at all as installable package while it is not usable without drivers.

Ignore this stupid messages.

I will try to create good patch.

That'd be appreciated. It is not fully clear to me whether it is just a matter of a missing (not installed) package or whether the driver was not even compiled.

Well when i install package via opkg is has no drivers.
When i want to build the package and select lcd4linux menuconfig the default driver is "NULL" so AFAIK it is "driver was not even compiled" but hopefully it is only matter of the config.in of lcd4linux package.

So i will try to update config.in which i never done so i can take some time.

The issue here is that the default LCD4Linux driver is NULL. This means that the buildbot LCD4Linux opkg file in the repos is useless. The downside of this is that building LCD4Linux with all drivers is going to make the opkg file rather large.

Would you be able to compile your own LCD4Linux package from source and install that instead?
