#8825 new enhancement

anon_mount by label

Reported by: desrt Owned by: developers
Priority: low Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version: Trunk

Description

It would be nice if OpenWRT did anon_mount by label, if it was available.

/mnt/mylabel is somewhat more meaningful than /mnt/sda1.

Perhaps even more important is that in the case of having multiple devices (USB hub or multi-bay enclosure) the order in which the kernel enumerates them can be semi-random -- your /dev/sda might be /dev/sdb next time. The label will always be the same, of course.

The label can be determined using the blkid utility. The automount code already runs this tool to check the label and UUID to find out if the volume matches a static entry in /etc/config/fstab, so the information could probably just be kept and reused.
