#8769 closed defect (invalid)

Please make it possible to disable deep packet inspection in qos-scripts

Reported by: jch@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk

Description

By default, qos-scripts attempts to perform deep packet inspection in an attempt to detect p2p traffic. This is completely pointless, since most p2p traffic is encrypted nowadays. The effect is that it burns CPU power and gives priority to encrypted p2p traffic over unencrypted traffic.

Please add an option to not load the various "layer 7" modules, and not perform any deep packet inspection. (I'd further argue that this should be the default, but I'm happy if I can easily configure that on my own.)
