Ath9k kernel Oops AR5416 AR5133 Routerstation Pro

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: Ath9k kernel Oops AR5416 Cc:

Description

OpenWrt-Trunk Rev 25060 default kernel.

I randomly get a kernel oops after booting openwrt on a RSPro with an AR5416-5133 and a AR2413(use madwifi for this).
It seems to happend just after the ar5416 card/ath9k is initialised.

It seems very much like the closed Ticket #7992

I have uploaded the debug.kernel.tar.gz here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1s992m3cgmp8ce9

The Oops here:

Similar thing happened to me after "wifi down; wifi up"
I'm using UBNT Routerstation (basic, not Pro), and TPlink TL-WN861N MiniPCI card. OpenWRT is up-to-date SVN backfire (r25419) with compat-wireless-2011-01-24

Making changes to configuration file does not help. Sometimes OOPS is happening right after bootup, sometimes only after "wifi down; wifi up"

Once in a while, following OOPS happens, too:

Similar thing happened to me after "wifi down; wifi up"
I'm using UBNT Routerstation (basic, not Pro), and TPlink TL-WN861N MiniPCI card.

This ticket is for a different device. Regarding the TPLink card, can you check if it works fine in a different device (e.g. a laptop)? (This question also applies to the original poster ;-).

Also, if this is a Revision 1.x TP-Link, this might be a known hardware problem, see #7638.

Yes, you are right. TL-WN861N rev 1.x is a buggy piece of hw. With
Mikrotik R52n everything works fine on the very same RS board. Thanks!

  • Resolution set to no_response
  • Status changed from new to closed

Parts of these issues should be fixed in the latest version. The AR5416 specific ath9k_hw_set_power crash is also tracked in #9107, please post there if you still have this *specific* issue in the latest version of the code.
