jamvm Makefile throwing errors

using the openwrt SDK I'm trying to build the jamvm using the Makefile that upgrades 1.5.3 to 1.5.4.

It looks as if there's and illegal argument -- z but from my understanding this is suppose to run without passing any parameter. I'm a newbie to this forum. Spending to much time with this issue and looking for some help.

This error does not make much sense to me, because the zlib Makefile explicitely passes "rc" as flags to the AR command. Did you modify the zlib Makefile somehow?
