#8331 new defect

Connected DHCP devices won't connect after powercycle

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: packages Version: Trunk

Description

I've confirmed on two broadcom chipset routers this bug.

Routers:

Asus WL-520GU
Buffalo WHR-G54S

After installing and updating OpenWRT Backfire 10.03 r24038 and setting up static ips after power cycling my router my PCs would not regain connection, only restarting the PC would gain connection.

Rebooting the router via the gui/ssh did not exhibit this issue. Reloading DD-WRT on my device did not exhibit this problem.

Both PC's are running Ubuntu 10.04

Also, downgrading to kamikaze did not have this issue either.

I am the original submitter of this bug report. After some additional troubleshooting, I have found that this issue with Backfire 10.03 where if powercycled, network devices that are connected, do not regain connection (IP), seems to be onl with onboard NIC adapters. A physical NIC card does not have this issue with 10.03.

Since the onboard NICs do not have this problem with kamikaze or DD-WRT I still beleive this to be a problem with Backfire. I just thought I'd add the additional specifics.
