Hello,

I've a netgear DG834GT which worked with r21333 (/changeset/21333.html). I decided to update it to last rev from SVN. So I compiled image with brcm63xx, and atheros driver option. I installed it with mtd command.
But he doesn't start fully and doesn't detect ethernet now (I think).

Hi,

recently I met the same problem with my Netgear DG834GT board.

After a short analysis it becomes clear, that the switch is not registered, because there is no registered eth1 device for that platform:

roboswitch: Probing device eth1: No such device

This is happen because all available MAC addresses (namely 2 of them) are registered before enet1 registration, one for b43, and the second for enet0. But the board itself just exploits roboswitch on enet1 and ath5k PCI module.

Here is the list of trivial work-arounds for the problem:

  • increase number of available MAC addresses up to 3
  • disable CONFIG_SSB_PCIHOST from the kernel configuration of the board

But a more tricky solution should be implemented to support this board with a single configuration for all brcm63xx boards.

Vladimir, your analysis is correct. Do you know if there is anything in flash which would allow us to distinguish this model from a traditionnal 96348GW-10 board id?

Worst case, we need to use the MIPS machine patches to support mutliple boards and do not rely on using the board id.
