#7829 closed enhancement (obsolete)

Keep /etc/hosts /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/openvpn during sysupgrade

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers

Component: base system Version: Backfire 10.03.1 RC2

Description

These files should be kept during sysupgrade in case the user added entries in /etc/hosts or custom dns entries in /etc/resolv.conf . Also, since the openvpn sample config places files in /etc/openvpn , that directory should be kept too.

I do not agree with /etc/resolv.conf, its a symlink to /tmp by default.

Shouldn't /etc/resolv.conf stay a symlink if it was originally a symlink and stay a file if it was a file during the sysupgrade process?

  • Resolution set to obsolete
  • Status changed from new to closed

A generic facility for keeping files has been added in r23233. It's up to the packages to define proper conffiles now.
