#7826 closed defect (wontfix)

Performance: ath5k + AR5212 (ledpin issue)

Reported by: pez-openwrt@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Backfire 10.03.1
Component: kernel Version: Backfire 10.03.1 RC2
Keywords: Cc:

Description

I upgraded from Kamikaze to Backfire (10.03.1 RC2) last night.

I have an ASUS WL-500W with a replacement Atheros Radio.

diag: Detected 'ASUS WL-500W'
ath_pci: wifi0: Atheros 5212: mem=0x40000000, irq=6

With the ath5k driver installed and configured, I can only push 6.2Mbit across the wireless and the radio generates way too many interrupts (thus consuming the CPU). The speed is consistent using both iperf and my ISP speed test page. The receiving laptop reports a 54Mbit connection during these tests.

This is the same symptom I observed with the madwifi driver *before* I found the forums and learned how to set softled and ledpin=1.

I have been unable to find a way to set the led pin and software led status on the ath5k driver that ships with Backfire.

I have reverted to the madwifi driver (with softled and ledpin=1) and am now getting the same performance that I was with Kamikaze+madwifi.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

madwifi development has stopped, consider switching to ath5k.
ath5k stability has improved considerably recently, so it should be usable now.
