Asus WL-520gU - won't boot

Reported by: andrew.varner@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Description

I have an Asus WL-520gU, which I'm trying to flash with OpenWrt. I can't get it to boot though. After flashing the latest trunk (compiled 2010.08.13 23:00 UTC) it doesn't output anything on the serial console. It seems completely dead.

I will attach the log file. It shows flashing OpenWrt in recovery mode, powercycling, booting ("Starting program at 0x80001000"), and then nothing else happens. It's as if the kernel immediately enters an infinite loop, with interrupts disabled.

I can still access recovery mode and flash other firmware. Backfire works a little, but doesn't fully boot. Kamikaze works, but won't do USB. DD-WRT works, but also won't do USB.

this looks like a bootloader issue (CFE), not openwrt related.

Loader:raw Filesys:tftp Dev:eth0 File:: Options:(null)

try to flash a fresh trunk/snapshot, but if bootloader is been altered by a previous flash, you may be out of luck.

Here's how it looks when I flash DD-WRT: (complete log is attached)

Loader:raw Filesys:raw Dev:flash0.os File: Options:(null)
Loading: .. 3856 bytes read
Entry at 0x80001000
Closing network.
Starting program at 0x80001000
CPU ProcId is: 0x00029029, options: 0x0000004d
Linux version 2.4.37 (eko@dd-wrt) (gcc version 3.4.6 (OpenWrt-2.0)) #4677 Wed Jul 28 13:54:14 CEST 2010

Here, the kernel starts fine, and after about a minute, I can telnet in. I also tried compiling and flashing kamikaze, which works, and backfire, which doesn't work, but at least outputs stuff to serial. So the boot loader is still good.
