#7621 closed defect (fixed)

QoS crashing network

Reported by: cj@… Owned by: developers
Priority: highest Milestone: Backfire 10.03.1
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: qos-script Cc:

Enabling qos-scripts break my Internet connections. I suspect there is something wrong with my iptable config. I've attached the screenshots of my firewall status. Note that if my download value is left blank in qos-scripts, everything works fine, but that kinda defeats the whole purpose of using QoS.

Make sure that kmod-ipt-queue is *not* installed. If it is, remove the package, reboot and try again.

Thank you, I uninstalled it and qos no longer crashes my network now. I'm going to run some tests on qos-scripts to check traffic shaping results. A quick question thou, what function does kmod-ipt-queue serve? Is there a difference for not having it installed?

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

The QUEUE target is used to pass packets to userspace. If you don't use anything that needs kmod-ipt-queue, there's no reason having it installed.
