#7551 closed enhancement (fixed)

PRE-creating jffs2 Base image without LZMA pre-compression kernel 2.6.35

Reported by: Ernesto Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone:
Component: base system Version: Trunk
Keywords: jffs2 lzma kernel 2.6.35 pre-compression Cc:

Description

I try to build a LZMA-pre-compressed jffs2-image, but after compiling trunk the generated jffs2-images are 1 MB bigger, as the builded squashfs-image. The resulting jffs2-Image with 3,5 MB in Size is to big to flash into a 4 MB device.

In the kernel-2.6.35 config LZMA-compression support for jffs2 is active, but only for the realtime filesystem.

The pre-generated Base-Image for WRT350n V2 (ixp4xx) looks like ONLY jffs2 build, but not LZMA pre-compressed.

Without fixing the pre-compression i must use squashfs-images and need the jffs2-overlay modus later...

I think the offline-prebuilding process needs an extra lzma-pre-compression step, when lzma compression inside the kernel, is active, too.
