r21324 breaks build on mac os (image creation)

r21324 (together with r21325 ?) breaks build with error included below.

i am using mac os x 10.5, last successful build on my machine was r21314.

after reverting changes to /branches/backfire/target/linux/x86/image/Makefile to r21234 build succeeds again.
