#7199 closed defect (obsolete)

dnsmasq dhcp_host_add() not adding hostname

Reported by: mattcen@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Kamikaze 8.09
Keywords: Cc:

I may be incorrect here, but from the looks of things, the dhcp_host_add() function of the dnsmasq init script (line 172) says:

append args "--dhcp-host=$mac,$ip"

but I think it should say:

append args "--dhcp-host=$mac,$name,$ip"

As a consequence of this, I cannot use 'uci' to set this option and expect the hostname to resolve; I have to manually set this in /etc/dnsmasq.conf.

Apologies if this bug has already been reported or fixed in a later release, but on a brief search I didn't find this issue in existing tickets.

Oh, I just found that Backfire has been released; guess I'm a bit behind the times. Perhaps this ticket should be closed as a wontfix (unless the issue remains in 10.03)?

  • Resolution set to obsolete
  • Status changed from new to closed

Backfire supports that through the "name" option

Guess it's time for an upgrade already then (just finished getting Kamikazi configured :P)! Thanks Jow.
