#6811 assigned defect

adm5120 - no networking after UDP storm

Reported by: trnap7am@… Owned by: juhosg
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: kernel Version: Kamikaze trunk
Keywords: adm5120 Cc:

Description

I've been testing trunk r20018 on Edimax BR6104K (adm5120 platform).

After running UDP test using iperf between two computers connected through router:

iperf -c 192.168.1.2 -u -b 50m -d

Router seems to be dead from network and is only accessible over serial line.

How to reproduce:

  1. Setup networking between computers connected to router
ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
  1. Perform iperf test
iperf -s -u #on computer with ip address 192.168.1.2
iperf -c 192.168.1.2 -u -b 50m -d #on computer 192.168.0.2

Expected result:
Under heavy load router should start dropping packets when consuming all available memory and should not drop packets after the the test finished.

Actual result:
Under heavy load router consumes all memory and starts dropping packets. When the test finished, router has free memory again but packetloss is kept very high.
