#6733 closed defect (fixed)

swconfig support for IP175A in ip175c.c

Reported by: jh Owned by: nbd
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: kernel Version: Kamikaze 8.09
Keywords: Cc:

The new support for IP175C/IP178C switch via swconfig, also contains code to support the IP175A, but it is not enabled.

The IP175A model number is not recognized, and its register definitions are incorrect.

The reset code seems to only be correct for IP175C (since port count is hard coded to 5), and IP175A ports cannot be reset.

patch to enable IP175A switch support

Firstly a big thank you to phorn for getting most of the support in place for this chip.

The above patch works on 8.09.2 and allows this rather basic switch to be configured.

I have tested it on a DLink G604T, but there is a bug in CPMAC for AR7 which stops full frames with 802.1q VLAN tags being sent or received (ticket:6730) on the CPU port.

This switch doesn't seem to control outgoing frames from the CPU port. Since this port is usually shared by 2 or more VLANs, any broadcast traffic appears on all ports. Inbound frames from external ports will not cross to other ports with a different VLAN id. So in reality some ARP requests will appear in the wrong place, but replies to these will be dropped if received on a port outside the VLAN.

My test configuration was:

# /etc/config/network

config interface loopback
        option ifname lo
        option proto static
        option ipaddr
        option netmask

config interface lan
        option type bridge
        option ifname eth0.1
        option proto static
        option ipaddr
        option netmask
        option nat 1

config 'interface' 'dmz'
        option 'ifname' 'eth0.2'
        option 'proto' 'static'
        option 'ipaddr' ''
        option 'netmask' ''
# option 'macaddr' '00:0f:3d:xx:xx:xx'

config 'switch' 'eth0'
        option 'reset' '1'
        option 'enable_vlan' '1'

config 'switch_vlan' 'eth0_0'
        option 'device' 'eth0'
        option 'vlan' '1'
        option 'ports' '0 1 2 4t'

config 'switch_vlan' 'eth0_1'
        option 'device' 'eth0'
        option 'vlan' '2'
        option 'ports' '3 4t'

The macaddr option may be useful if you have a PC with two NICs or move connections from one VLAN to another when testing. Replace the xx:xx:xx with something unique on your network.

The number of ports is different on this switch when compared to the IP175C so take care the CPU port is #4
