#6424 closed defect (worksforme)

Assigning MAC address to bridge breaks packet forwarding

Reported by: Stefan Bethke <stb@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: mac bridge Cc:

Assigning a custom MAC address to a bridge interface (ifconfig br-lan hw ether 02:00:00:00:00:00 or through UCI network.lan.macaddr) leads to a bridge that will forward packets, but the host cannot receive frames anymore.

Moreover, the original auto-assigned MAC address appears to linger somewhere, and is still used to validate/process frames received.

This is on r18794.

Assigning eth0's MAC address to br-lan seems to work, oddly enough.
