PPPoE connection doesn't auto startup

In /etc/config/network I have next section:

config interface wan
    option auto         1
    option ifname       eth1
    option proto        pppoe
    option username     adsl-user-name
    option password     qwerty
    option defaultroute 1
    option peerdns      1

System at startup doesn't bring up this connection.

Manually connection startup succesfull:

# ifup wan

works fine.

I have the same issue with pppoa wuth backfire 10.03 (r19932)

Running r19944 on Asus WL-500gP v1 here and pppoe autostarts correctly at boot

config 'interface' 'wan'

option 'ifname' 'eth0.1'
option 'proto' 'pppoe'
option 'username' 'username'
option 'password' 'password'
option 'keepalive' '10'

if I use my working network config from my WL-500g Delux with my self made x86 image wan will not automatic be brought up.
Maybe there is a differenz as most X86 have two seperate networkcards while the WL-500g uses virtual subnetzes?
(Wl-500g -> wan = eth0.1, lan=eth0.0 while
X86 ->wan=eth1, lan=eth0?)
