Python package fails to build on brcm63xx in trunk in OS X

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: Python Cc: marca56@…

I think the Python package either needs to be updated to 2.6.4 or fixed to compile on the trunk. See below...

mips-openwrt-linux-uclibc-gcc -c -Os -pipe -mips32 -mtune=mips32 -funit-at-a-time -fhonour-copts -msoft-float -fno-inline -I. -IInclude -I./Include -I/Users/marca56/openwrt/staging_dir/target-mips_uClibc- -I/Users/marca56/openwrt/staging_dir/target-mips_uClibc- -I/Users/marca56/openwrt/staging_dir/toolchain-mips_gcc-4.3.3+cs_uClibc- -I/Users/marca56/openwrt/staging_dir/toolchain-mips_gcc-4.3.3+cs_uClibc- -DPy_BUILD_CORE -o Python/pymath.o Python/pymath.c
Python/pymath.c:26: error: static declaration of 'copysign' follows non-static declaration
make[4]: * [Python/pymath.o] Error 1
* /Users/marca56/openwrt/build_dir/target-mips_uClibc- Error 2
make[2]: * [package/feeds/packages/python/compile] Error 2

Nudge, nudge... the issue seems to be the Makefile calling the wrong architecture (e.g., x86) for the build for Python on MIPS-based chipsets like Broadcom and Infineon; this would also affect ARM-based chips. And it would also account for why the binaries can be compiled successfully, but abort on running on the target.

Could somebody with Python experience or the package maintainer fix this please?
