#6194 closed defect (fixed)

r18414 breacks unattended build (without V=99)

Reported by: Alexey Loukianov <mooroon2@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: highest Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version:

Description

Looks like fpu-emulation related prompt that was added in r18414 breaks normal openwrt build.

I've been doing as following:

  1. make clean
  2. svn update - updated to r18456
  3. make oldconfig
  4. make package/symlinks
  5. make menuconfig - select/deselect packages
  6. make -j5

Build process silently stopped on building kernel.
ps axfu showed that it stopped in kconf script.
Ctrl+C and restarting make with V=99 presented me with a promt where I've been asked in case I want to enable fpu-emulation, waiting for my answer forever. After I had entered "Y" - build went on as normal (actually it is still in process of building firmware meanwhile I'me filling this bug report).

NO PATCH, NO FIX!

Replying to anonymous:

NO PATCH, NO FIX!

Huh, if something got broken because of introduced changes - it is just possible to reverse that changes back to a previous state and all be fine. Another possibility is to fix introduced changes, but for that the best person who can do is is original patch author.

Meanwhile, during the same build I've been asked with this prompt about FPU emulation for a second time.

Mentionning the target you are building for would help resolve the problem.

I had already fixed it myself in working copy:

[lexa2@lexa2 trunk]$ svn diff target/linux/brcm47xx/config-2.6.30
Index: target/linux/brcm47xx/config-2.6.30

 # CONFIG_MIPS_MACHINE is not set
 # CONFIG_MIPS_MALTA is not set

It might be the same for 2.6.29 builds, as default config for it also lacks CONFIG_MIPS_FPU_EMU. Platform was brcm47xx, I was building kernel 2.6 firmware for my dlink dir-320.

P.S. Am I right it that kernel version 2.6.30 is used by default for brcm47xx builds? Are there any places in menuconfig where the kernel version for firmware may be choosen?
