Support for wrt54g V1.0 in Kamikaze 8.09

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version: Kamikaze 8.09
Keywords: wrt54g, wireless Cc:

Like the Asus WL500G, did support for the WRT54G V1 drop in the latest firmware release? I am getting the following error messages in dmesg:

wl0: wlc_attach: failed with err 13
wl%d: driver failed with code 13
unregister_netdevice: device wl%d/80236a20 never was registered
Memory leak of bytes -283

I have installed "openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx" on my router and the wireless does not appear to come up.

As a follow up, I installed Kamikaze 7.09 (openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx) on the same router to test if the hardware still worked and the wireless kernel module installed correctly and I could configure the router for wireless.

Could this be a problem with the new Broadcom binary driver?

I also tried installing the stock linksys 4.21 firmware and resetting the nvram to factory defaults, but this also did not solve the problem. Let me know if you need more info.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

This is definitively related to the broadcom wl driver upgrade. They dropped support for old cores. What you can do in your case is either continue using kamikaze 7.09 or use a brcm47xx 2.6 kernel image with b43legacy.
