WEP setup with UCI and LuCI

Reported by: werner@… Owned by: developers

Description

WEP setup appears to be broken for UCI and LuCI:

First, I tried the UCI instructions on
http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/KamikazeConfiguration/WiFiEncryption

This yielded just the same configuration in
/var/run/hostapd-wlan0.conf
that encryption=none would have yielded.

Then I tried LuCI. There are two issues: first, the user
interface doesn't make it clear what one is supposed to enter
in the "Key" field. The hex string ? A text string ?

Second, LuCI sets wireless.@wifi-iface[0].key, which should
apparently be the key index, not the actual key. Also, no
matter what I enter, I just get the same hostapd configuration
as before.

WEP is usually not handled by hostapd so you wont't see a change in the configfile.

The key format is either hexadecimal or can be a string if preceeded with s:
As WEP is mostly useless today and shouldn't be used we only support setting one key in LuCI for backward compatibility purposes and in this case its ok to assign it to wifi-iface.key directly.

If you want to check the active encryption mode / key try:
iwlist YOURDEVICE enc
and / or
iwconfig
on a shell.
