Since the update to openssl 0.9.8j I can't compile openssl anymore (up to rev 14121) I get the following error:

In file included from fips_sha1_selftest.c:52:
../../include/openssl/fips.h:53:2: error: #error FIPS is disabled.
mv: cannot stat `': No such file or directory

i tried to repopen it, but it says:

Warning: No permission to change ticket fields.

so i'm just adding few comments.

i'm having similar problem and

make package/openssl-{clean,compile}

didnt solve. compile stops on the very same place that a full 'make V=99' stops.

failure on compilation is:

make[6]: Entering directory `/home/solutti/openwrt2/trunk/build_dir/target-mips_uClibc-0.9.29/openssl-0.9.8j'
/home/solutti/openwrt2/trunk/staging_dir/toolchain-mips_gcc-4.2.4_uClibc-0.9.29/usr/lib/gcc/mips-openwrt-linux-uclibc/4.2.4/../../../../mips-openwrt-linux-uclibc/bin/ld: error while loading shared libraries: /home/solutti/openwrt2/trunk/staging_dir/target-mips_uClibc-0.9.29/usr/lib/ ELF file data encoding not little-endian

make[6]: * [link_a.gnu] Error 1
make[5]: Leaving directory `/home/solutti/trunk/build_dir/target-mips_uClibc-0.9.29/openssl-0.9.8j'

At least to me, seems it's not related to 0.9.8j update because i had compile problems with 0.9.8i on it's last days on the trunk and problem continues after revision 14102 which updated openssl to 0.9.8j.

i'm trying to build for AR71xx platform, on a Fedora 8 x86 box. I could also built successfully from trunk some weeks ago, i have built LOTS of different times on this Fedora 8 x86 machine, this OpenSSL problem started some days/weeks ago, unfortunelly i cannot say precisely when.
