#4425 closed defect (fixed)

opkg with IPv6 only proxy has an initial 20 second pause

Description

I've add a http_proxy to opkg.conf of a hostname which only has a AAAA record. When using opkg update (or install) there is a 20 second pause before the download starts. During that time I'm seeing in tcpdump the following behaviour:

0s Query for AAAA record to ns1 - succeeds
0s Query for A record to ns1 - fails
0s Query for A record to ns2 - fails
10s Query for A record to ns1 - fails
10s Query for A record to ns2 - fails
20s Query for A record to ns1 - fails
20s Query for A record to ns2 - fails

Then opkg (wget?) contacts the proxy using the IPv6 address returned by the very first query and the download happens quite happily.

If I add the A record to the DNS entry, then the download tries to happen using the IPv4 address which is firewalled away so fails.

This is using 8.09rc1 on a DSL-502T.
