#3551 closed defect (obsolete)

/sbin/usb-storage patch

Reported by: cozmic Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version: Trunk
Keywords: usb storage hotplug Cc:

I had to do some changes to make hotplugging of USB storage work. This is my patch to

Tested with r11461, kernel 2.6 on a wgt634u.
It is not possible to attach more than one usb-storage device, because only one mountpoint is supported, but otherwise it would be necessary to configure the dynamic mountpoint in applications like nfs, samba, ftp, etc.

Please have a look at #3559, too. Temporary mountpoints created in jffs don't work with nfsd. It's probably better to mount volumes in /tmp instead.

While your patch does appear to work, it does not support mounting multiple USB drives, nor does it support multiple partitions per drive.

The patch attached to #3474 does support these features, and is very similar to this patch for #3551.
