#2993 closed defect (wontfix)

"ip -6 route add table 123 ..." doesn't add routing rules to new table

Reported by: jeremy@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: packages Version:
Keywords: ip route ipv6 Cc:

"ip -6 route add table 123 ..." doesn't add new ipv6 routing rules to the new routing table; instead they end up in the main routing table. The same command on a Fedora 7 machine does add the rule to the new table. The corresponding ipv4 routing command does work under OpenWRT.

root@gw:~# ip -6 route add dev lo to 1234:: table 123
root@gw:~# ip -6 route list table 123
root@gw:~# ip -6 route list
unreachable 1234:: dev lo  metric 1024  error -128 mtu 16436 advmss 16376

"ip" package version ./ip_2.6.20-070313-1_mipsel.ipk.
Base system OpenWRT Kamikaze 7.09.
Kernel Linux 2.4.34 #3 Sun Sep 30 20:33:21 CEST 2007 mips unknown

This is a Linux kernel limitation: the IPv6 stack doesn't currently go through the routing
policy database.
