#2762 closed defect (invalid)

start_pppd broken unless pppoe is used

Reported by: Fate <openwrt@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Kamikaze 7.09
Component: packages Version:
Keywords: ppp pppoe Cc:

For an ordinary PPPoE setup like this

#### WAN configuration
config interface wan
        option ifname "eth0.1"
        option proto pppoe
        option username bla@fasel.xy
        option password "12345"

everything's fine, pppd is called as

+ /usr/sbin/pppd plugin mtu 1492 mru 1492 nic-eth0.1 persist usepeerdns defaultroute replacedefaultroute user bla@fasel password xyz unit 0 linkname wan ipparam wan takes care of the "nic-eth0.1" argument. However, for a PPP-only setup
as in

#### ISDN fallback configuration
config interface ppp_isdn
        option ifname ppp1
        option proto ppp
        option username any
        option password any
        option device "/dev/tts/1"
        option connect /etc/config/
        option disconnect /etc/config/
        option pppd_options "xonxoff debug"

pppd fails:

+ /usr/sbin/pppd mtu 1492 mru 1492 ppp1 persist usepeerdns defaultroute replacedefaultroute user any password any unit 1 linkname ppp_isdn ipparam ppp_isdn connect /etc/config/ disconnect /etc/config/ xonxoff debug
/usr/sbin/pppd: unrecognized option 'ppp1'

Grrrr, the "fix" is bullshit, of course. Working on it.

comment:2 Changed 10 years ago by Fate <openwrt@…>

Please close, config was invalid (need to use "ifname /dev/tts/1").
