#2629 closed enhancement (wontfix)

the magic file is missing multimedia files, the gmediaserver useless dependency on file

Reported by: Luboš Staněk <lubek@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Kamikaze 8.09 RC1
Component: packages Version:

Description

The file/libmagic is wrongly packaged. The magic files are needed for the library. It is useless without magic files (unless the calling program offers some).

The gmediaserver has been made wrongly dependant on the file package. It does not use the file binary but the libmagic library.
Moreover it uses the libmagic library to detect media files. The default magic file included in the file package (see the paragraph above) covers only magics for the linux binaries.

Delete the ticket.

The issue persist. But the patch has become outdated with several changes in the trunk.

I will maybe offer it using the new method of submitting patches.
