#2526 closed defect (fixed)

"wet" (bridge) mode is always set in broadcom.sh when wireless.cfg2.mode='sta'

Reported by: chdh@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: packages Version:
Keywords: wet client repeater managed bridge broadcom.sh Cc:

Description

The following code sequence in broadcom.sh (https://dev.openwrt.org/browser/trunk/package/broadcom-wl/files/lib/wifi/broadcom.sh) does always set "wet" mode when the configuration option wireless.cfg2.mode is "sta" (Client), regardless of whether the bridge between WIFI and LAN is configured or "broken":

53 case "$adhoc:$sta:$apmode" in
        ...
63 :1:)
64 wet=1
65 ap=0
66 mssid=0
67         ;;
        ...

This contradicts the documentation at http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/KamikazeConfiguration which states, that "wet mode is enabled automatically" when the wireless interface is bridged.

The effect is, that iwconfig shows the wl0 interface in "Repeater" mode instead of "Managed" mode.

I append a patch for the Kamikaze 7.09 version of /lib/wifi/broadcom.sh.

fixed in r9529
wet mode is enabled unconditionally, beacuse it does not interfere with regular sta operation and is in fact required for some aspects of it, e.g. wpa with the built-in supplicant.
