#22709 new defect

ath9k: after a time (30m-14h) stops transmitting BSS on tp-link 941nd v3.2

Reported by: hojuruku Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: ath9k Cc: nbd@…

Description

I previously was running a 1 year old trunk for a year, flawless wifi no problems. The old version was openwrt binaries from the download server. Now I'm running my own. Only difference is I squeezed more in the rom with 512k squashfs blocksize,16bit mips ASE, and stripping symbols from unused kernel/userspace.

<plntyk> well if you checkout trunk from ~1 year ago and it still runs better you should file a ticket about that regression - might be some change just broke some hardware revisions

I am compiling a new build from trunk with ath9k debugging enabled. I have DDNS and ssh access for developers. I can redirect my dmesg to get everything.

I compiled WITHOUT DSS. Now I am compiling with DSS.

What debug options would you like to see turned on to make this a proper report?

wifi stop; sleep 5; wifi restart fixes the problem for a time.

I can still scan for networks after the crash using iw.

What debug parameter should I give to the ath9k module to start with. I'll setup a an alert for when it goes down via ping or something and instantly grab the logs.

as requested on irc:
trunk rev 49660 is the version. it's pretty recent say a few days.

The old trunk version I can't remember where it worked, but it was at least a year old provided download.openwrt.org

I haven't got anything useful with loglevel 0 yet. I'll keep you posted, compiling the debug version of ath9k as we speak.

I've installed a new version of ath9k with debugging. I'll keep you posted.
