#22676 assigned defect

Banana pro (sunxi) ethernet (stmmac) not functional

Reported by: chris.ace@… Owned by: wigyori
Priority: high Milestone:
Component: kernel Version: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Keywords: Cc:

Description

When using a CC image on a Banana Pro the system is booting up fine, but the ethernet network is unusable. When pinging the system I have more than 50% packet loss, an actual connection (luci or ssh) cannot be established.
The same board works fine with Ambian (which uses gmac instead of stmmac) so I'm pretty sure its not a hardware defect or wiring problem (of course I also replaced cables, switches to eliminate this as source).

I don't think this is related to the well known "gigabit problem" on sunxi, because the problem also exists when forcing the switch port to 10 or 100. I still have to find out if the problem still exists in trunk, but #22675 prevents me from testing right now.

If it still exists in trunk my first attempts would be to play around with buffers, but since stmmac is now in-kernel this wont be so easy... any suggestions?

Strange, bananapro worked when the release was tested. Let me check this on my board with a fresh CC build and get back to you.

Thanks,
