How to migrate to LEDE?

Description

So, OpenWRT is obviously dead, thx to devs left the project. Is there a guide how we can migrate from a OpenWRT trunk build to LEDE? Would a simple sysupgrade work? Will all the software and configs still work in LEDE? What about the old packages from OpenWRT?

LEDE is basically OpenWrt + updates. So sysupgrade will work fine and I am right now using packages from openwrt-routing and openwrt-packages in LEDE.

The OpenWrt guys should get their stuff together and move the core development to LEDE. The non-core development can still be in OpenWrt. But having a core which starts to rod doesn't help anyone and just destroys the image of the related projects openwrt-routing, openwrt-luci and openwrt-packages
