#22217 new defect

Pivot-overlay to a miniSDHC in an USB-modem slot fails

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: base system Version: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Keywords: pivot-overlay extroot miniSDHC Cc:

Description

CC 15.05.1 (on Asus WL-330N3G with Huawei E3131 USB-modem and 8GB miniSDHC)

The regular pivot-overlay (to a plain USB-flash) works as per https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/extroot

The very same steps performed with a storage in a slot of an USB-modem fail. A router locks-up after reboot, no SSH or Telnet access possible until ExtRoot is disabled (by either removing the card or by editing /etc/config/fstab before rebooting).

I (the original poster here) would like to change the ticket#22217 to "invalid".
The pivot overlay ExtRoot works fine to a card in a card-reader of an USB-modem (just like it works to any other ExtRoot-supported storage) - until one tries to use the "usb-modeswitch" utility to enable the modem itself.
This ("usb-modeswitch") utility temporarily has to disable the card-reader - thus interrupting the file system.

So this ticket was opened in error. Please disregard it.

The solution is posted in the wiki: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/extroot#extroot_to_a_card_in_a_slot_of_an_usb-dongle
