#22208 new defect

Asia/Baku time zone is incorrect.

Reported by: mahmud@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: packages Version: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Keywords: timezone Cc:

Description

Currently openwrt uses outdated data for Asia/Baku time zone. This leads to incorrect system time.

This year, Azerbaijan has abandoned practice of "daylight saving time" so there was no timezone correction at this autumn.

The result is: system clocks are gain by 1 hour (i.e. 6.00AM when it should be 5.00AM, etc).

Currently the Openwrt DD trunk and Chaos Calmer 15.05 source trees do contain the most up-to-date timezone file published by IANA, 2016c. Zoneinfo 2016c was published in March 2016 and formally introduced the new info on Azerbaijan: http://mm.icann.org/pipermail/tz-announce/2016-March/000037.html

If you compile either a DD trunk build or a new build from the CC 15.05 source tree, you will get the updated timezones available in Luci. Relevant commits:
trunk: https://github.com/openwrt/luci/commit/859e4353783c3c9b6b23eaa51604d360a73c1236
CC15.05 branch: https://github.com/openwrt/luci/commit/605d1f1947d4f6819d1c7e7f4a72e5c6663e97e5

(But the old CC 15.05 and 15.05.1 releases that have been compiled before the changes in Azerbaijan, do contain outdated timezones.)

The full zoneinfo 2016c package is also available in trunk.
