Xiaomi mini & Lenovo y1 2.4G is still very weak

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Designated Driver (Trunk)
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Description

The miwifi mini and lenovo y1 has no extern pa at all, and Changeset 46891 may be wrong.I try to detect the power of lna, it is default high with either stock or openwrt firmware.
The 2.4G weak singal problem will only happened with the machine has extern lna.

Changeset 46891

 				ralink,group = "i2c", "rgmii1";
 				ralink,function = "gpio";
 			};
+			pa {
+				ralink,group = "pa";
+				ralink,function = "pa";
+			};
 		};
 	};

first thing: description might be wrong, this is maybe used to enable PA regardless of the fact if it's internal or external.

second: how do you know the 2.4G weak signal will happen if the LNA is external?

third: is it possible there is more than one hardware revision of this device, with different PA/LNA structure? because 46891 definitely improves TRANSMITTED signal, but not received as for received you need LNA enabled.

1st:I donnot know how the code adding pa section in dts file affects the wireless driver code,so i just says it maybe wrong with the truth that xiaomi mini has no external pa.The Changeset 46891 enables internal or exteran pa?

2ed:I test zte q7, a mt7620a router without exteranl lna whitch is none business of Changeset 46891, the 2.4G received singal is better than xiaomi mini, regardless of the pa section in the miwifi.dts.

Changeset 46891 descripts that using that patch could get better singal, which has been confirmed by experiments.

46891 does not have any impact on LNA, on xiaomi or any other other mt7620 device.

I don't think this issue is resolved because I got the same performance problem with my lenovo y1 on CC and DD(trunk), any ideas to hack or workaround this ?
