#21858 new defect

f2fs extroot

Reported by: bolvan Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: base system Version: Trunk
Keywords: f2fs, block-mount Cc:

This restriction in block.c of block-mount looks purely artificial.
When removed f2fs extroot work well.
Why not remove or add strncmp(pr->id->name, "f2fs", 4) ?

        if (strncmp(pr->id->name, "ext", 3) &&
            strncmp(pr->id->name, "ubifs", 5)) {
            ULOG_ERR("extroot: unsupported filesystem %s, try ext4\n", pr->id->name);
            return -1;

Nice Find!
Here is how to patch from your build root:

mkdir ./package/system/fstools/patches/
wget -O ./package/system/fstools/patches/0001-add_f2fs_as_supported_extroot.patch
make package/system/fstools/clean
make package/system/fstools/compile
find ./build_dir/ -name block.c -atime -1 | xargs grep -C1 f2fs

I found your topic
But I'd prefer the generic one for f2fs support:
