luci-app-ddns doesn't work after installing

Reported by: Tipo874 Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: packages Version: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Keywords: Cc:

Description

After installing luci-app-ddns luci breaks with:
---
/usr/lib/lua/luci/controller/ddns.lua:56: attempt to call global 'post' (a nil value)
stack traceback:

/usr/lib/lua/luci/controller/ddns.lua:56: in function 'v'
/usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:536: in function 'createtree'
/usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:201: in function 'dispatch'
/usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:168: in function </usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:167>

---

This was run on a TP-Link MR3420 with MultiWeb 3.18, but I get the same on a TP-Link Archer C7 and a Netgear WNDR4300 with the latest install from OpenWrt.

Removing luci-app-ddns via ssh brings luci back.

The luci-app-ddns in the repo is too new for your installed system and therfore incompatible.

So what good is having a repo with incompatible software?

It didn't work with the latest CC release for the Archer C7 or Netgear WNDR-4300 either, same issue.

I thought the idea of having a repo configured would be to guarantee that you only can download compatible software, but perhaps that is not the case in this world?

For Solaris the repos will only allow you to install software compatible with everything else you already have installed, but I guess this is another world.

Is there some repo somewhere with a compatible version?

After installing the latest CC release and doing a reset before installing luci-app-ddns it does indeed work, so appears to have been a bad repo lingering on the config.

What's the method to unbrick luci after this?
Can I remove the plugin via ssh?

opkg remove luci-app-ddns; rm -r /tmp/luci-*
