#20644 new defect

Trendnet TEW-692GR

Reported by: stefan@… Owned by: developers
Priority: highest Milestone:
Component: base system Version: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Keywords: Cc:

Description

After flashing the factory image openwrt-15.05-ramips-rt3883-tew-692gr-squashfs-factory.bin

on the original firmware the device is no more reachable. It is booting, also failsafe mode is ok but all tries to reach the Router via LAN are failing.

So I think the internal connection Switch - CPU is not configured correctly. There are more people with the same problem!

I found something in dmesg:

[ 2.360000] switch0: Atheros AR8327 rev. 2 switch registered on mdio-bus
[ 2.370000] Atheros AR8216/AR8236/AR8316: probe of mdio-bus:00 failed with error -22
[ 2.390000] ralink_soc_eth 10100000.ethernet: incorrect phy-mode -22
[ 2.400000] ralink_soc_eth 10100000.ethernet eth0: ralink at 0xb0100000, irq 5

Maybe there is the solution?

Same problem for me! Can't reach the Device.

Can someone build a Firmware with enabled WLAN? I have a second device to flash and get more informations.

I might have found the issue for the failing switch initialisation.

Since the TEW-692GR support is broken for a long time, there might be more issues. If possible attach a full bootlog.

Is WLAN enabled by default? I won't lose another device.

What do you mean with lose? According to stefan networking is working in failsafe mode. And in failsafe you can flash an image using the sysupgrade command.

I've uploaded a fresh set of images which should have wireless enabled by default. As written, I'm not sure what else is broken. Could be possible that wifi doesn't work at all.

Anyway, someone need to be so brave to test the images. Otherwise the bug will never be fixed. Having a serial console attached to the device might be helpful.

Not successful!

Same issue. I can't reach the device. WLAN is also not working. The failsafe-mode seems to be working (very fast blinking light), but without LAN or WLAN, I am not able to access the device. Install a new image is not possible.

One device is left to be brave. Send a new Image and I will test it.

I´ll test it if I´m coming back home. We are on holidays...

Best regards
Stefan

PS: I sure have a serial console attached and have everytime access on it.

Okay, I was able to fix the remaining issue and have uploaded a fresh set of images.

A forum user confirmed that the switch is working with the latest version of the images. Wifi doesn't not work yet.

I'll take care of sending the patches upstream.

@mnaegler Solder a serial console to the devices to revive them! Something like pogopins mighty work as well.
