LuCI shows 00:00:00:00:00:00 for WAN MAC

Description

Hi,

Model - TP-Link TL-WR842N/ND v2
Firmware Version - OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.05 / LuCI (git-15.248.30277-3836b45)
Flash image (bin) from OpenWRT page.

After update from BB to CC 'Network/Interfaces' page shows "MAC-Address: 00:00:00:00:00:00" for WAN interface.

Issuing ifconfig over ssh shows proper HWaddr for 'eth0'.

This is clean upgrade to CC using device recovery mode - full flash. No old configuration.

Regards,
George

Looks similar to #20030.
In my case only eth0 interface shows problem.
MAC is displayed for eth1 and wlan0. Although these interfaces share same hwaddr.

I have the same issue with WR-842ND v1.
LuCI shows MAC-Address: 00:00:00:00:00:00 for eth1 and internet is not working cause my ISP has MAC filtering.
Manually setting override MAC to one in stock firmware works.
Didn't have any troubles on Barrier Breaker.

Same here on Buffalo WBMR-HP-G300H.
Commandline uci shows correct mac addr.

Same for TP-LINK TL-WR740ND and TL-WR741ND.

Same for new installation on Netgear WNDR3700 V1. Only WAN interface has zeroes. Other interfaces have correct MAC addresses.

I've updated to:
OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.05.1 r49087 / LuCI for-15.05 branch (git-16.086.65079-f2ffa30)
and looks like problem is fixed now.

OpenWrt Designated Driver r49207 / LuCI Master (git-16.108.33174-51a7f96) and still experiencing this.

More details, I get zero wan mac on luci when wan protocol is pppoe, if I switch it to unmanaged, then I get the correct one.

Plus, ubus call network.device status also give me all zeros on wan mac when wan proto is set to pppoe.
