#20598 new defect

Wi-Fi stops working on Alix 3D3 + R52n-M

Reported by: mario_lopes Owned by: developers
Priority: highest Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: kernel Version: Trunk

Description

Hello all.

Running x86 generic image, built from r47048.
Wi-Fi interfaces are configured in Ad-Hoc mode without encription. When running iperf, TCP or UDP, between two, after few seconds, iperf client stops sending traffic and server stops receiving. Sometimes, issuing "wifi" command on one node, iperf resumes operation and stops seconds later. On othertimes, it's necessary to issue that comand on both nodes, I guess that only one stops working, which one is completely random.

Dmesg doesn't show error or warnings regarding Wi-Fi.

Thanks.

At r47081 shows following error:

ath: phy0: DMA failed to stop in 10 ms AR_CR=0x00000024 AR_DIAG_SW=0x42100020 DMADBG_7=0x000062c0

Executing 'wifi' on that node, IP layer resumes operation. After few seconds stalls again and no more messages but kernel does not crash.

Thanks.

At r47440 another error appeared:

[ 7193.089914] ath: phy0: DMA failed to stop in 10 ms AR_CR=0x00000024 AR_DIAG_SW=0x42100020 DMADBG_7=0x000062c0
[ 7232.499058] spurious 8259A interrupt: IRQ7.

In this case, Wi-Fi was limited, via iw command, to MCS0 and 20 MHz BW, taking longer to crash than in higher phy rates.

Doing "cat /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phy0/ath9k/interrupt" on all nodes and issuing "wifi" command on that node which as increasing "Local-Bus-Timeout", network starts working again untill next crash.
