#20536 new defect

Wrong image in initramfs? Kirkwood / Linksys EA 3500/4500

Reported by: Steven Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: toolchain Version: Trunk
Keywords: Kernel uImage initramfs Cc:

Description

Hello!

I tried to boot an initramfs without success. Images were build using latest buildtree.

openwrt-kirkwood-ea3500-uImage:
boots fine until kernel panic so kernel it self is fine.

openwrt-kirkwood-ea3500-uImage-initramfs:
Checksum is ok but Kernel does not compress, uboot freezes and it stucks at:
--SNIP--
Load Address: 00008000
Entry Point: 00008000
Verifying Checksum ... OK

openwrt-kirkwood-ea3500-uImage-initramfs
and
openwrt-kirkwood-ea3500-zImage

have the same size? huh?
Something wrong here?

Same behavior on EA4500 (have both devices) so instructions from
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/ea4500
simply wont work. Saw beahvior like this earlier with pogoplug e02 in the past.

Thanks!
Steven

solved,

initramfs needs to be smaller than 5000000 bytes.
