#20273 closed defect (fixed)

very little space left for additional packages

Reported by: t.hirsch@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: base system Version: Trunk

Description

device: TP-Link TL-WR841N/ND v7
installed: openwrt-15.05-rc3-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr841nd-v7-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

After upgrading from Barrier Braker to Chaos Calmer rc3 there's not enough space left on the device to install qos-scripts and kmod-nf-nathelper-extra; I get "not enough space" errors when installing the 2nd package. Of course installs also some dependencies for each package.

# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
rootfs 576.0K 508.0K 68.0K 88% /
/dev/root 2.3M 2.3M 0 100% /rom
tmpfs 13.9M 316.0K 13.6M 2% /tmp
/dev/mtdblock3 576.0K 508.0K 68.0K 88% /overlay
overlayfs:/overlay 576.0K 508.0K 68.0K 88% /
tmpfs 512.0K 0 512.0K 0% /dev

Maybe you can optimize partitions...?

I see that the device comes with 4 MB flash only, which simply is not enough for all the packages. So I've built my own image w/o all the IPv6 stuff. Now there's enough space left for all the packages I need.

Thank you for the image builder tool, it is really great and easy to use!

For reference, here's the package list that I've used: "dropbear kmod-nf-nathelper-extra firewall opkg odhcpd qos-scripts uhttpd luci luci-app-firewall luci-base luci-lib-ip luci-lib-nixio luci-theme-bootstrap luci-mod-admin-full luci-app-qos -ipv6 -kmod-nf-conntrack6 -kmod-nf-ipt6 -luci-proto-ipv6 -libip6tc -ip6tables -kmod-ip6tables -kmod-ipv6 -odhcp6c -ppp -ppp-mod-pppoe". Now /dev/mtdblock3 (overlayfs) has 640kB, which is slightly more than the 576kB of the default image.
