#19464 new defect

no labels in luci when not installing the meta package

Reported by: brian@… Owned by:
Priority: response-needed Milestone:
Component: luci Version: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Keywords: Cc:

Description

When I don't install the luci metapackage but instead install the part of it that I am interested in, everything seems to work except that I don't get labels in the web UI.

For example, if I install the following packages:

uhttpd
uhttpd-mod-ubus
luci-mod-admin-full
luci-theme-bootstrap
libiwinfo-lua
luci-lib-nixio

instead of luci I get screens on the web interface that look like the attachment.

  • Priority changed from normal to response-needed

This has been fixed upstream with https://github.com/openwrt/luci/commit/9a81d8ff32bcb023d4d6e9f8955d978cfb76455c.

You can workaround the problem with "mkdir -p /usr/lib/lua/luci/i18n"

Replying to jow:

Ahhh. Yes, that works wonderfully.

As an aside, any pointers on how one would make that kind of change to a ROM image as it's being built with the Image Builder kit?

You can try something like that:

mkdir -p files/usr/lib/lua/luci/i18n
touch files/usr/lib/lua/luci/i18n/.placeholder
make image ... FILES="files/"

Ah right. FILES=. I have been using that quite a bit for my bigger "gateway" WAR image builds but didn't consider it to just create an empty directory.

Does this sort of thing make it as an update/into 14.xx somehow?
